Female-centric digital media startup Brit + Co has named Jill Braff as its president.
Braff, who most recently served as general manager of Ellen Digital Ventures, will oversee revenue, marketing and strategic partnerships for the San Francisco-based company, which in addition to an advertising business also sells online courses and merchandise and holds events.
“Jill’s expertise in connecting with consumers will be invaluable to Brit + Co as we continue to grow into a 360-degree brand that prioritizes engagement with our community,” said CEO Brit Morin.
A veteran of HSN, Braff most recently oversaw the creation of Ellentube, the Heads Up! app and other initiatives at Ellen Digital Ventures, a joint venture of Warner Bros. Television and Ellen DeGeneres. She left the company in August. She also spent time in marketing at companies including Nintendo, Sega and The Learning Co.
She joins Brit + Co as the company has placed a greater emphasis on video and has grown its offering of online courses. “Brit and her talented team have created a brand that truly resonates with consumers,” said Braff. “Brit + Co goes beyond producing content, inspiring their audience to unlock creativity and take action. I’m thrilled to be joining this mission and to help Brit + Co further diversify in content, online classes, commerce and events.”
Brit + Co was founded in 2011 and today has an audience of 175 million mostly millennial women across platforms. The company has raised more than $45 million in funding from investors including Verizon Ventures and Marissa Mayer.
