CBS All Access crashed for many users ahead of the kickoff for Super Bowl LV.
The app, run by Super Bowl broadcaster CBS, was not working ahead of the start of the game for users trying to join the live stream. Many receive an error message that read: “Uh oh. An error has occurred, but we’re working on fixing it. We’ll be up and running again shortly!” Those already streaming the broadcast did not appear to be affected.
Live streaming resumed a few minutes into the start of the game. A representative for CBS All Access confirmed that the issue had been resolved.
The Twitter account for CBS All Access support was responding to individual tweets for technical support but did not specifically address the outage. It’s unclear how widespread the outage was, but Twitter users complained just after the National Anthem performance that service was disrupted.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are competing for the top NFL title. The game kicked off at 3:30 p.m. PT.
ViacomCBS is prepping to rebrand and relaunch CBS All Access as Paramount+ on March 4. In addition to a slate of original programming, the service will feature a broader array of programing from across the conglomerate’s portfolio, including movies from Paramount and classic TV shows from channels including Nickelodeon, MTV, BET and Comedy Central. Subscriptions to CBS All Access currently start at $6 per month.
