NEW YORK – Facebook has told media executives in recent days that it will start letting streaming music services, such as Spotify and Rdio, publish user activity on its pages.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the move is part of long-expected changes whose goal it is to make Facebook a hub for music, movies and video games similar to the way consumers share photos and videos on the network.
The changes could be unveiled at Facebook’s f8 developer conference in late September, according to the paper.
Instead of partnering with just one online music service, Facebook’s approach fits its focus on social experience and sharing of content.
