Facebook is turning 10.
To celebrate the milestone, the social network has released a tool called A Look Back that compiles a user’s pictures and videos into a slideshow with sentimental music.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg also marked the occasion by posting a nostalgic letter on his public Facebook page.
“When I reflect on the last 10 years, one question I ask myself is: why were we the ones to build this? We were just students. We had way fewer resources than big companies. If they had focused on this problem, they could have done it,” he wrote. “The only answer I can think of is: we just cared more.”
He went on to say that he’s more excited about the company’s next 10 years than its first 10.

“The first 10 years were about bootstrapping this network. Now we have the resources to help people across the world solve even bigger and more important problems,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Pew Research Center made note of the milestone by releasing a report with six new facts about Facebook usage.
According to the report, Facebook is used by 57 percent of all adults and 73 percent of all people age 12 to 17. Pew said the study found that adult usage of Facebook is intensifying while teen usage is evolving.

Pew’s six facts about Facebook are below:
1. Some users dislike certain aspects of Facebook. According to Pew, 26 percent of Facebook users strongly dislike when people share too much information about themselves and 36 percent also dislike when people post pictures or information about another person without asking permission.
2. Women and men often use Facebook for different reasons. Women surveyed by Pew said one of the major reasons they use Facebook is to see photos or video. But the major reason men use Facebook is to share with many people at once or to receive updates or comments.
3. Half of all adult Facebook users have more than 200 friends in their network. The average number of friends for adults is 338. Meanwhile, 27 percent of users 18 to 29 have more than 500 friends.
4. Pew’s report found that 12 percent of Facebook users have been asked to unfriend someone. That number increases to 19 percent when looking at 18- to 29-year-olds.
5. Facebook users “like” their friends’ content and comment on photos frequently, but don’t often update their own statuses. The report found that 44 percent of Facebook users “like” content at least once a day, but only 10 percent update their own status on a daily basis.
6. Of Internet users who don’t use Facebook, half of them live with someone who does use the social network. According to Pew, 24 percent of non-users who live with a Facebook user will access that person’s account to look at photos or posts.
