Fullscreen is bolstering its technology offerings for YouTube creators with the acquisition of StageBloc, a Chicago-based company that provides technology for creating websites and apps.
Fullscreen, founded in 2009, has made inroads in the music industry, working with more than 10,000 accounts that include Metalllica, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and others to reach their fans directly. The company’s technology offerings include the creation of online or digital destinations that allow influencers to offer content, commerce and community management.
“As we’ve evolved over the last year and the world has evolved, it’s become less about one platform and more about all of them,” says Fullscreen senior vp talent and programming Beau Bryant. “For the top creators, it’s even more about being able to go to fans directly. With StageBloc, we have an underlying technology piece now to help that top tier centralize their revenue streams.”
As part of the acquisition, StageBloc will be renamed Fullscreen Direct. The company will operate out of Fullscreen’s Chicago offices.
Fullscreen Direct will join the other offerings that Fullscreen provides to its network of 75,000 creators, including advertising sales, consumer products and talent management.
Bryant says that Fullscreen Direct will continue to work with its existing clients. “This isn’t intended as an influencer offering,” he explains, adding that artists across a variety of fields are looking for ways to reach fans directly. “All of these top talent need a place for their super fans to get stuff from them, whether it’s content or merchandise. You need to make yourself available on as many platforms as possible.”
