Getting a pair of Google Glass just got a lot easier, as the tech giant announced Thursday that it will expand its Explorer Program and allow the general public to get their hands on Glass.
STORY: Google Partners With Ray-Ban and Oakley for Wearable Glasses
On April 15, interested buyers (only U.S. residents are eligible) can visit Google’s site and purchase Glass for a whooping $1,500 (plus tax), but space is limited so be sure to set up a reminder in advance because it’s likely these techie frames will sell out quick.
Google has been pushing for a bigger reach with Glass in recent months. In March, the Internet company announced its partnership with Luxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban and Oakley, to incorporate Glass features into models from the two popular eyewear brands. And in January, Google introduced its new line of hipster-inspired wearable frames, which will be available later this year.
Among the early users in the Explorer phase was Diane von Furstenberg, who wore Google Glass to shoot a short film during during her spring 2013 runway show.
