Zander Lurie, GoPro’s senior vp media, will serve as SurveyMonkey’s temporary executive chairman for three month’s following CEO Dave Goldberg‘s death, SurveyMonkey announced in a statement on Friday.
The GoPro executive, who has been a SurveyMonkey board member since 2009, will continue his role at GoPro while supporting the SurveyMonkey team while they search for a new CEO.
“I am a resource to SurveyMonkey during this transition,” Lurie said in a statement. “Dave was a strong leader who assembled an extraordinary team that is committed to fully realizing the company’s mission to help people around the world make better decisions with data.”
GoPro president Tony Bates said, “GoPro is honored that one of our own can support SurveyMonkey during this difficult time. … We consider this a small opportunity to demonstrate our respect for SurveyMonkey and Dave’s legacy.”
The news of Goldberg’s sudden death was announced by his brother, Robert Goldberg, on May 2 in a Facebook post: “It’s with incredible shock and sadness that I’m letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night. In this time of sorrow, we mourn his passing and remember what an amazing husband, father, brother, son and friend he was.”
