America’s favorite pastime is coming to Snapchat.
The messaging app has inked a deal with Major League Baseball Advanced Media to bring weekly baseball content to its users.
Starting Wednesday, Snapchat will curate photos and videos submitted by fans in its “Stories” section and broadcast it to users every week. The content could include shots of fans at games, videos of on-field play and behind-the-scenes footage from MLB’s social media correspondents, according to The Wall Street Journal, which first reported on the deal.
Although this is not a monetary deal, the Journal reports that the companies might consider selling the stories to advertisers.
Snapchat introduced the Stories feature in 2013 and then expanded it to include crowd-sourced content known as Our Stories. The feature has been popular with music festivals and has also been utilized by the National Football League, National Basketball Association and National Hockey League.
The MLB Wednesdays story kicked off today with the Washington Nationals’ 9-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
