Moviepass co-founder Stacy Spikes revealed on Thursday his latest project: PreShow Interactive, a mobile app that offers gamers the ability to exchange their time spent engaging with branded content to unlock in-game currency without interrupting their playing experience.
The currency that players unlock may be applied to many popular games across multiple consoles. Currently in Beta, the company has closed $3 million in seed funding led by Harlem Capitol, which will be used to expand its product and support new hires.
“We are thrilled by the early feedback and excitement we have received from our beta users as well as brands and agencies who have seen and tested the platform,” said Spikes. “PreShow is part of an emerging market where consumer control and privacy comes first; and where time, data and attention are respected and properly rewarded. Our technology gives the gaming industry a unique opportunity to honor its customers in ways other platforms have not.”
In addition to co-founding theater subscription service Moviepass — he exited the company in 2017 when Helios & Matheson acquired the brand — Spikes is known for founding the UrbanWorld Film Festival, hosted in New York City.
Joining Spikes at the company are Gretchen McCourt (Pacific/Arclight Theaters), Joey Adarkwah (MoviePass) and Tracy Kain (Screenvision Media).
PreShow Interactive launches this Summer.
