Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been booted from Instagram for promoting debunked claims about the COVID-19 vaccine.
The account for the son of the slain U.S. Attorney General no longer appears on the social media site.
“We removed this account for repeatedly sharing debunked claims about the coronavirus or vaccines,” a spokesperson for Facebook, which owns Instagram, said in a statement, cited by CNN. His Facebook page with similar claims is still up, as is his Twitter account.
The outspoken anti-vaxxer most recently made headlines when he became one of the most prominent voices among those who alleged that MLB legend Hank Aaron died from his COVID-19 vaccination.
“#HankAaron’s tragic death is part of a wave of suspicious deaths among elderly closely following administration of #COVID #vaccines. He received the #Moderna vaccine on Jan. 5 to inspire other Black Americans to get the vaccine. #TheDefender,” Kenndy wrote on Twitter shortly after Aaron died Jan. 22.
Medical experts said Aaron died of natural causes. What’s more, the Hall of Fame slugger used his vaccination experience to encourage others who may have been skeptical due to misinformation.
“I was proud to get the COVID-19 vaccine earlier today at Morehouse School of Medicine. I hope you do the same!” Aaron said via social media. He was vaccinated against COVID-19 in Georgia on Jan. 5, telling the Associated Press at the time, “I don’t have any qualms about it at all, you know. I feel quite proud of myself for doing something like this. … It’s just a small thing that can help zillions of people in this country.”
