“@Queen_UK,” the Twitter handle that has amassed some 1.1 million followers by spoofing the Queen of England, is to be adapted into an animated web series by Yahoo.
The faux royal twitter account parodies the Queen’s thoughts and daily doings at Buckingham Palace. Her fellow royals and international politicians are often the targets of her exceedingly English snark. Some of the tweets were previously adapted into the book, Gin O’Clock.

The six-part Yahoo online video adaptation will be titled, Yes Ma’am, and is written by the creator of the parody account, whose true identity remains a secret.
The show will launch on Yahoo’s U.K. video comedy page on Nov. 15 and new episodes will go live on Fridays at 5 p.m., London Time — or, “Gin O’Clock” as the “Queen” prefers it. A Christmas special is planned for Dec. 25, to coincide with the Queen’s Christmas speech.
The principle female characters — the Queen, Kate Middleton and the Duchess of Cornwall — will be voiced by Kate Robbins, who previously played the Queen in the popular satirical puppet show Spitting Image. Lewis Macleod will do the lead male characters, including Prince William and Prince Harry, George Osborne, Nick Clegg, Boris Johnson and Her Majesty’s faithful bookie, Mr Stubbs. Steve Hope Wynne will voice British Prime Minister David Cameron.
“I didn’t hesitate to say ‘Yes Ma’am!,’” said Robbins. “It’s a brilliant concept and I’m looking forward to bringing it to life in this exciting new animation series.”
Dan Watt-Smith, head of video at Yahoo added: “Usually we see characters from TV shows beating a path to Twitter, but we’re trying an alternative approach, creating an online video series for the Queen’s dedicated followers and subjects. Each episode will not only give us a topical angle to promote, but will have long-term appeal, much like her Majesty.”
Yahoo revealed a few of the themes for coming episodes. They include “Prince William is Left Holding the Baby,” “A Day at the Races,” “Prince Harry’s Search and Rescue Mission” and “Her Majesty’s Christmas Message.”
