Business news startup Cheddar has added Adam Bain as a senior adviser.
Bain, the former chief operating officer at Twitter, will work with Cheddar executives, including founder and CEO Jon Steinberg, on ad products and strategy. In the position, Bain will also have a leadership role at Cheddar’s brand advisory council, which takes place Tuesday.
As Twitter’s COO, Bain oversaw the social network’s revenue business, including its advertising products. He stepped down from Twitter in November after six years with the company.
“When it comes to delivering for brands, no one is better than Adam,” said Steinberg in a statement, with Bain adding that he has “been impressed with the company’s revenue traction, including Cheddar’s sponsored integrations, which are more effective for brands.”
Steinberg, a former executive at BuzzFeed and MailOnline, started Cheddar in spring last year as a streaming alternative to business news networks such as CNBC or Bloomberg TV. Since then, the company has raised nearly $30 million from investors including Raine Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners to build out its studio presence and ink deals with Fusion and Twitter. Cheddar’s live programming is available via Sling TV, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook and some smart televisions, among other distributors.
