When Coachella rolls around this April, couch-bound fans will have double the chances to watch, thanks to an expanded partnership between the festival and YouTube. In addition to live-streaming the first weekend, YouTube will for the first time cover weekend two as well, offering a curated lineup of performances, artist vignettes and behind-the-scenes videos at the Indio, California, festival.
In addition to being the festival’s exclusive live-stream partner for a ninth year, YouTube is now the official playlist partner for Coachella, meaning it will handle playlist integration on Coachella’s website and app. YouTube Music and YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. will have exclusive access to a dedicated allocation of passes for purchase for each weekend when tickets go on sale Jan. 4.
YouTube said members will receive access codes via email just before tickets go on sale that can be used to purchase passes from a YouTube Music member cart, available while supplies last.
Festival voyeurs have a stacked lineup to look forward to April 12-14 and April 19-21, including headliners Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande, as well as topline artists Janelle Monae, The 1975, Solange, Kid Cudi, Khalid, Zedd and Blackpink, the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, among others (see below).
Coachella is entering its 20th anniversary this year, after it was founded in 1999. (The festival was not held in 2000, so this technically marks its 19th iteration.) Last year’s event hosted more than 150 artists, including headliners Beyonce, The Weeknd and Eminem.
