YouTube is raising the price of its live television service as it adds new channels to its skinny bundle.
The streamer on Wednesday announced that the price of YouTube TV will go up by $5 a month to accommodate the addition of Turner-owned channels including TNT, TBS, CNN and Cartoon Network.
With the deals, YouTube TV subscribers will now have access to March Madness NCAA basketball games, nationally televised NBA games and Anderson Cooper 360.
YouTube launched YouTube TV last spring with programming from more than 50 networks, including all four broadcast networks, ESPN and AMC. The price, $35 per month, put it at the low end of internet-enabled skinny TV bundles and was marketed toward young viewers who didn’t want to pay for a pricey cable bill.
YouTube has been adding more programming to the service over recent months, including establishing an exclusive channel for the new Los Angeles Football Club MLS team. The full lineup of channels now coming to the platform is: TNT, Adult Swim, TBS, CNN, Cartoon Network, truTV, Turner Classic Movies, NBA TV and MLB Network.
The service will now cost $40 per month for new members in order to accommodate the increase in programming. But YouTube says that new members can receive the $35 per month price if they sign up before March 13.
YouTube TV is available in over 100 markets in the U.S. Its features also include unlimited cloud DVR and up to five accounts per household.
