Sam Lansky, known for his writings about music stars such as Jessie J, Robin Thicke, Ellie Goulding, and One Direction, will step away from the glitz and glamor, opting for something a bit more personal in a new book.

The Idolator senior editor has signed with Gallery Books for his memoir, The Gilded Razor, the publisher announced.

The book is set in the world of Manhattan's posh private schools where prescription pills and sex are rife and the competition to get into a good college is intense. Gallery is pitching the book as a contemporary Basketball Diaries and a unique first-hand look at teenage adderall abuse.

The rights to the pop-culture writer's memoir were acquired by vice president and senior editor of Gallery Books, Mitchell Ivers. Andrew Stuart of the Stuart Agency represented Lansky.

Aside from his work at Idolator, Lansky has also written about entertainment and culture for New York magazine, The Atlantic, Out, Esquire, Billboard, Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post and

Publication of The Gilded Razor is planned for 2015.
