You're almost not a real fashion designer -- or not one worth your salt, anyway -- if you don't have a book of your designs in print. Rizzoli and Assouline are the big New York based art publishing houses that publish books like this: coffee table worthy, beautiful, collectible, and they make good gifts. Now whimsical feminine British designer Alice Temperley is getting her own Rizzoli book called True British: Alice Temperley to celebrate her ten years in the fashion business.
Temperley's a very big deal in London, more so than outside of her native city. But Hollywood celebs are aware of her and do wear her clothes, which are cocktail and ethereal, and definitely not your standard fare. Her boutique on Melrose Place in West Hollywood is a great showcase for the clothes, but they're also sold at Neiman Marcus in L.A. Meanwhile, after a week where we've seen an influx of London designers to Hollywood: Roksanda Illincic, Jonathan Saunders, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou -- we are now expecting another one: Alice Temperley will be in L.A. on November 3 to celebrate the launch of her book. Save the dates have gone out, but it's not set in stone yet if the event will take place in her boutique or an outside location. We certainly expect a lot of celebrity sightings that night -- particularly British ones.
