The British Fashion Council Returns to L.A. For a Showing of Fall 2012

This past fall, Starworks brought London design stars like Jonathan Saunders, Mary Katrantzou and Roksanda Illincic to Hollywood. Now, they're returning for a second stint.

For L.A. fashionistas and stylists, it was almost too good to be true: a project called London Show Rooms LA coming to the Ace Gallery in Hollywood, where stylists would meet some real rising British design talent. Among them, Jonathan Saunders (famed for his prints and color combinations), Roksanda Illincic (famed for her colors and knits) and Mary Katrantzou (also famed for her very bright sixties style prints), and pull future pieces for actresses.

That's exactly what happened, and within a week, actresses like Emma Stone and Amber Heard wound up in spring 2012 pieces from these designers.

Now, the British Fashion Council with U.S. based Starworks are launching the next phase. They will show fall 2012 collections from great Brit design talent like Marios Schwab, E. Tautz, Nicholas Kirkwood, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, Todd Lynn, the aforemented Saudners, Illincic and Katrantzou, plus a younger group they are called Ones to Watch: David Koma, Holly Fulton, J.W. Anderson and Michael Van Der Ham. There will also be a private party for the designers to meet the L.A. hoi polloi on Monday, March 12 at Smashbox studios.

Not only will these designers get a crack at dressing Hollywood talent and meeting their teams, but they will also get a chance to meet with retailers in Los Angeles and could wind up with orders from any boutiques and department stores. Now, this period of time is the opposite of the kick off to awards season -- but -- the Cannes Film Festival is only a little more than two months away and that's as big a fashion extravaganza as it gets. It's followed by Venice, where Keira Knightley wore a Mary Katrantzou print dress last year, putting this London designer firmly on the international retail map.
