Coachella Fashion From the Fest: Juicy Fruit
While many wandered the Polo Fields in faux hippie garb, Katy Perry and Solange were among a crop who sported fresh fruit cocktail-inspired looks.
Music festivals have undoubtedly birthed their fair share of trends -- some good (gladiator sandals with cute sun dresses), some bad (feathered crowns) and some just downright heinous (bikinis paired with fur-lined boots, for starters). But one micro-trend we noticed during weekend one of this year's Coachella was a slight penchant for fruit-festooned gear.
While running around the Polo Fields, always stylish songstress Solange wore a lemon stamped frock by Alice + Olivia, while Katy Perry carried a straw Carmen Miranda bag by Lulu Guinness (complete with cherry earrings and pineapple hat). Other fruit fashion-devotees included DJ Harley Viera Newton, who sported a ladylike pineapple print dress while spinning Henry Holland's eyewear launch party on April 14 and British socialite Pixie Geldof, who sunbathed at NYLON's soiree in a pinup-inspired cherry one-piece.
While fruit won't likely replace tiny flowers as the print-to-beat at Coachella's round two this weekend, it was a welcome change of pace from the usual hipster-favored fare seen at these things.
Check out the trend below. And tell us: Would you wear Chiquita Banana's finest to a music fest (or anywhere else, for that matter)?
