A Conversation on 'The Young Pope,' 'Riverdale,' Winter TCAs and More
If you, dear readers, have been following this blog or reading along on Twitter, you know that the January Television Critics Association press tour just wrapped up in Pasadena.
During a brief lag in weekend panels, Uproxx's Alan Sepinwall and I sat down for a brief conversation that totally has no resemblance to that podcast we used to do once upon a time. That means no clever musical intro, no carefully curated times (there really aren't any spoilers for anything here) and no genial "Happy Friday!" welcome (though Alan may have let a familiar closing line slip out).
It's just 48-plus minutes of us discussing press tour highlights and sharing our thoughts on a few upcoming spring TV shows. We also have slightly fuller reviews of The Young Pope and Riverdale. You might recall we did something similar back in June when we were at the ATX TV Festival in Austin.
Our chat this time might have been longer, but: A) There were more afternoon panels to attend and B) Alan forgot to instigate a conversation about how Bruce from Mixology (Andrew Santino, as he may be known when I get around to writing about Showtime's promising I'm Dying Up Here) and I have reached an unsteady detente. Long may this peace in our time last. Snooze you lose, Sepinwall.
So enjoy the conversation and a remembrance of things past.
