Mel Gibson

After making the Oscar-winning Braveheart and the self-funded Passion of the Christ, Gibson found himself the focus of much personal drama. He made antisemitic remarks to the arresting officer when he was pulled over for a DUI in 2006. Then, a 2010 voicemail recording that Gibson left for his child’s mother, Oksana Grigorieva, was leaked, with the actor spewing frightening racist and sexist comments. Gibson starred in the Jodie Foster-helmed 2011 dramedy The Beaver as a man with an alternate personality represented by a beaver hand puppet. The film did poorly at the box office, however.

Bruce Willis

The Die Hard star has appeared in more than 60 films, finding success in both comedic and dramatic roles including in 12 Monkeys, Armageddon, The Sixth Sense and Sin City. Willis will continue his most famous role as John McClane in Die Hard 5, which is in the works, with John Moore (Max Payne) recently tapped to direct.

Chuck Norris

The martial arts master, who created his own form of fighting known as Chun Kuk Do, made a series of minor big screen hits in the '80s, including The Delta Force and Missing in Action before hitting it really big on the small screen with the CBS series Walker, Texas Ranger which ran from 1993-2001. Norris has since become a pop culture icon thanks to late night host Conan O'Brien's use of Walker clips on his show and the Internet phenomenon Chuck Norris Facts. In 2010 he was made an honorary Texas Ranger by Texas Governor Rick Perry. He currently writes two columns for the conservative WorldNetDaily and will be appearing in The Expendables 2.

Jean Claude Van Damme

The "Muscles from Brussels" was at his prime in the late '80s and early '90s, starring in Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Double Impact and Time Cop. After a series of poorly received films in the 2000s, Van Damme turned down a role in The Expendables. The film went on to commercial success, and Van Damme has revealed that he will play a villain in The Expendables 2. He will also have a cameo in the upcoming Muppets movie.

Starring roles in two of the biggest film franchises of the '80s, Star Wars and Indiana Jones made Harrison Ford a box office titan.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger left the film industry in 2003 to become governor of California. He was re-elected in 2006 and ended his term in January of 2011. After leaving office, it was revealed that he and his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, had filed for divorce because she discovered the existence of a teenage love child Schwarzenegger had fathered with the family's housekeeper. Schwarzenegger is looking to get back in front of the camera and has been attached to several projects, including a modern-day western called The Last Stand.

Steven Seagal

The Aikido action star rose to fame with Above the Law and Hard to Kill and continued with box office success foe several years. In the 2000s, became the king of direct-to-video films. In 2009, he starred in A&E’s Steven Seagal: Lawman, which focused on the actor as a deputy in Lousiana, and broke network records for viewership. The show's success has also brought Seagal his share of legal problems. He returned to action films in 2010 as a villain in Machete.

Clint Eastwood

The Dirty Harry star continued to work his no-nonsense tough guy act in front of the camera until as recently as 2008, but he's revealed his softer side in his work behind the camera. He helmed the Oscar winning films Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby and Mystic River, as well as the more recent Gran Torino, Invictus and Hereafter. He's become Hollywood's elder statesman, with his work frequently receiving notice during awards season.

Sylvester Stallone

After a series of flops, Stallone returned to his most iconic film franchises, writing, directing and starring in Rocky Balboa in 2006 and Rambo in 2008. Both films fared well at the box office, leading Stallone to write, direct and star in a new action film giving several other '80s action stars a second chance at stardom. The Expendables, which featured Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, and Bruce Willis, was an international box office hit. The Expendables 2, not written or directed by Stallone, but featuring an appearance by him, is in the works for 2012.

Dolph Lundgren

Dolph Lundgren is a black belt in karate and also holds a master's degree in chemical engineering from a university in his native Sweden. He came to America where he gained notoriety as the villain in Rocky IV. He then starred in a series of lower budget action films including The Punisher and Universal Soldier. Lundgren has spent the last few years making a string of direct-to-video action films, sometimes writing, directing and producing them himself. In 2010 he appeared in the box office hit, The Expendables.
