In new Star Trek Into Darkness footage shown at CinemaCon, Chris Pine can be seen running through a foreign land, which is covered in bright red foliage and launching into space to fly between one ship and another.
J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness will hit theaters on May 17.
"In the first film, Kirk got the chair a bit too prematurely," Chris Pine told the crowd. "In this installment, we see Kirk earn the chair."

Following the introduction, 18 minutes of 3D Star Trek Into Darkness footage was shown. The first segment showed Quinto's Spock being dropped onto a volcano to implode it and save a dying race. The segment revealed that at one point, the Enterprise will be submerged under water. Another clip showed Benedict Cumberbatch and Pine launching themselves between one ship and another in a tension-filled scene.
Brad Pitt took the stage next to introduce Marc Forster's upcoming zombie thriller World War Z, which opens in theaters June 21. "I just wanted to do a film that my boys could see before they were 18," he told the crowd. "I think you are going to like this as much as my boys will."
Stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Gina Carano, Sung Kang and Tyrese Gibson joined producer Neal H. Moritz and Universal chairman Adam Fogelson onstage to present new footage from Fast & Furious 6.
"The next one, which is probably going to be the biggest one of all, is going to be in theaters on July 11, 2014," Diesel told the crowd. James Wan will direct this chapter, and Moritz and Diesel return as producers.
Pacific Rim helmer del Toro took the stage during the Warner Bros. presentation, commenting on the significance of making this big sci-fi action film, which hits theaters July 11.
“The experience of making this movie has changed my life,” he told the crowd before the footage screened.
Michael Bay spoke to the crowd at the opening night Paramount presentation before a full screening of his film Pain & Gain.
“There’s no competition between superheroes, but if there was, he’d win,” Snyder told the crowd of Superman.
Armie Hammer tells THR that he was aware of The Lone Ranger show because his father had been a fan of the series and they would watch re-runs on TV.
He tells THR of taking on the iconic role: “I think my only concern was doing a good job and not pissing anyone off.”
Johnny Depp surprised the CinemaCon audience by appearing onstage to present new footage from The Lone Ranger at Disney's presentation.
“I think he’s really struggled to keep it authentic, but also a very entertaining character,” says director Gore Verbinski of Depp’s portrayal.
Producer Kathleen Kennedy was honored with the Pioneer of the Year Award at CinemaCon on Wednesday evening. The co-chair of Lucasfilm and prolific producer received the honor from the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Director Oliver Stone generated enthusiastic applause when he urged theater owners to maintain quality, including light and sound levels. “It's not good,” he said, speaking on a filmmakers panel, Wednesday at CinemaCon. “I went to see a digital screening of The Avengers last year. … It was awful. I could barely see it.”
“In an industry that is not and has not been female friendly…Kathy has beaten those odds the only way a woman can — by being so much better than most everyone else,” Field told the crowd before introducing Kathleen Kennedy for her award.

Ben Stiller introduced the first footage of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which he directed. The footage showed Stiller as a man romantically interested in Kristen Wiig’s character but can’t say anything to her. Stiller’s character is constantly daydreaming about the adventurous life he could be living. He embarks on a real adventure to find a missing photo negative.
“You told me, I think, that this was tomorrow? In the late, late night, tomorrow,” said Wiig, pretending that Stiller didn't want her onstage.
The other celebrity appearance at Fox's presentation was by Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, who both took the stage to reveal a new red-band trailer for their comedy, The Heat. The comedy was shown in full earlier in the week at CinemaCon.
“I have always really been a fan of cinnamon,” says McCarthy to the crowd.
Onstage at Fox's presentation, Bullock and McCarthy got plenty of laughs with their shtick, with McCarthy cracking the jokes and Bullock throwing it right back at her.
“At least midway into this, I had never cared for anyone, at all, that I’ve ever worked with,” McCarthy said.
“Melinda, here, is just like my sister,” Bullock said of McCarthy.
“No one wants to say it, but there’s something so wrong with you,” added Bullock after McCarthy revealed that she had been watching Bullock sleep on set.
Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer accepted the award for Male Star of Tomorrow on Thursday night.
Asa Butterfield, who will star in the highly anticipated sci-fi film Ender's Game, accepted the award for Rising Star of 2013 on Thursday. The first trailer for Ender's Game was shown during Lionsgate's presentation.
Aubrey Plaza stars on NBC's comedy Parks and Recreation. She'll next be seen in The To Do List. On Thursday, she was honored with the Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award.
Chris Pine appeared at CinemaCon on both Monday and Thursday, presenting new footage from Star Trek Into Darkness on early in the week and accepting the male star of the year award at the final event of the convention.
The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks spoke with Liam Hemsworth onstage during the Lionsgate presentation before accepting the award for excellence in acting later that evening.
Hailee Steinfeld, who will star in Ender's Game, received the award for female star of tomorrow.
Harrison Ford received the lifetime achievement award. Earlier in the evening, he has participated in the Lionsgate presenation, speaking on the human story of Ender's Game.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who introduced Kathleen Kennedy at an awards dinner earlier in the week, received the breakthrough filmmaker of the year award for Relativity's Don Jon, his feature directorial debut due out later this year.
Lin's Fast & Furious 6 opens May 24. He received the director of the year award. Lin's 2011 Fast Five took in a staggering $626.1 million worldwide for Universal.
Morgan Freeman, who stars in Oblivion, which is in theaters now, took the stage to talk about Now You See Me, a thriller about FBI agents track a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. He received the cinema icon award.
