Asked about the biggest challenge he faced during filming, the actor was quick to reply. "Dieting," he said. "I'm not a big fan of that… Neill [Blomkamp, the director] literally showed me a picture of my head superimposed on the body of some 22-year-old MMA guy and I went, 'OK. I know what I have to do.' And then it's just about doing it."
Jodie Foster's on-screen wardrobe was designed by Armani, but the actress stepped out in a Roland Mouret design for the film's premiere.
"Usually I'm excited about the food I'm gonna eat at the end because Sony is a really good studio for that," she said of the event. "They always have really good food, and I believe that comes straight from Amy Pascal."
Sharlto Copley, who previously starred in Blomkamp's District 9, told THR that he reveled in taking a back seat as a supporting actor rather than the lead.
"I felt like there was an opportunity to do something very different for Neill and my relationship in me playing the villain," he said. "It was cool because it took some of the responsibility off carrying the film, so you can really just enjoy it. I had a good time"
Wearing Calvin Klein to the premiere, Elysium star Alice Braga told THR: "It's the perfect combination of an action, sci-fi, futuristic film with a message. With something that tells the world what's going on."
