The interiors of Cliffside Malibu wouldn’t be out of place in a Nancy Meyers movie. The center overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands.
Yet while high-end rehab has become an inextricable fact of show business life, most people know little about what such treatment, which is only loosely regulated, consists of.

The pool at Prominence Malibu, which has three staff members for every client and offers five group-recovery sessions a day. Guests are not forced to disconnect from the outside world during their stay and reside in private villas with travertine tile floors. “We were looking for something secluded for confidentiality purposes and a little more rustic for a peaceful, quiet setting,” says the center’s Jason Thomas.
The One80Center’s Houdini Residential Treatment Facility is located in Laurel Canyon in the Hollywood Hills on a 5-acre lushly landscaped property. It’s limited to six residents at a time.
