George Michael

George Michael, the English singer, songwriter and record producer who rose to fame with the group Wham! in the 1980s, died Dec. 25 of heart failure at age 53. Both as a solo artist and with Wham!, Michael collected 10 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Faith,” “Father Figure,” “One More Try” and “Careless Whisper.” One of the first superstars of the music video age, Michael's iconic clips traced his evolution from a sexy but coyly closeted pop star to a defiantly out-and-proud gay icon.

Zsa Zsa Gabor

Zsa Zsa Gabor, who parlayed a minimal acting career into a career as a celebrity, died Sunday, Dec. 18, at age 99. Although Gabor appeared early in her career in several movies, including a small part as a nightclub singer in Orson Welles’ 1958 classic A Touch of Evil, she was more recognized for her outlandish persona, extravagant lifestyle and penchant for calling everyone “dahling.”

Gene Wilder

Gene Wilder, the leading man with the comic flair and frizzy hair known for teaming with Mel Brooks on the laugh-out-loud masterpieces The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, died Aug. 28 at age 83. The two-time Oscar nominee also starred as a quirky candy man in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and in four films alongside stand-up legend Richard Pryor.

Anton Yelchin

Anton Yelchin, best known for playing Chekov in the new Star Trek films, died June 19 at age 27. The actor, who was killed in a freak car accident, stars in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, which is set to open July 22, and in May signed on to co-star in DirecTV/the Audience Network's 10-episode straight-to-series Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes.

Alan Thicke

Alan Thicke, the beloved TV dad best known for his role on Growing Pains, died of a heart attack on Dec. 13. Thicke also was a songwriter who composed the theme songs to such sitcoms as Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. 

Grant Tinker

Grant Tinker, who used "quality television" as the cornerstone to create the prolific production house MTM Enterprises with his then-wife Mary Tyler Moore and then reverse the fortunes of NBC in the 1980s, died Monday, Nov. 28, at age 90. Tinker had his fingerprints on such shows as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Family Ties, St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues.

Robert Vaughn

Robert Vaughn, the urbane actor who starred as the American spy Napoleon Solo on the slick 1960s NBC series The Man From U.N.C.L.E., died Friday, Nov. 11, at age 83. Vaughn received an Oscar nomination for playing Paul Newman’s hard-drinking buddy Chet in the 1959 drama The Young Philadelphians.

Hugh O’Brian

Hugh O’Brian, forever known for starring as the quick-draw hero of the American West on the 1950s television series The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, died Sept. 5 at age 91. O’Brian, who was the last person John Wayne ever shot dead in the movies, also guest-starred on the first episode of NBC's The Virginian in 1962, filled in for an ailing Raymond Burr on CBS' Perry Mason and appeared in such films as Love Has Many Faces (1965), Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians (1965) and Africa: Texas Style (1967).

Garry Marshall

Garry Marshall, who created and executive produced some of the most popular sitcoms on TV — Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, The Odd Couple and Mork & Mindy, among them — and directed the box-office smash Pretty Woman, died July 19 at age 81 from complications of pneumonia following a stroke at a hospital in Burbank. His most recent film was the April release Mother's Day, which reunited him with his Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts.

Michael Cimino

Cimino, who won Oscars for director and best picture for the powerful 1978 Vietnam War drama The Deer Hunter, died July 2. He was 77.

James Victor

The actor was best known for portraying the buffoonish Sgt. Jaime Mendoza on the popular 1990s Family Channel action-adventure series Zorro. He died June 20 at age 76.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali, three-time heavyweight champion of the world, died June 3 from respiratory issues that were complicated by the boxing legend's 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Prince

Legendary artist Prince was found dead at his recording studio in Minnesota early on April 21. He was 57.

Morley Safer

Veteran 60 Minutes correspondent Morley Safer died on Thursday, May 19 in New York at the age of 84. Safer, who helped change Americans’ perception of the Vietnam War in 1965 with an eye-opening report about the torching of the village of Cam Ne, announced his retirement earlier this month at the end of his 46th season with the CBS newsmagazine. 60 Minutes aired a tribute to Safer the Sunday before his death.

David Bowie

Bowie, the British music icon and larger-than-life rock star, died Jan. 10 after an 18-month battle with cancer. The singer-songwriter, who also pursued a career in acting and starred in Just a Gigolo and 1986's Labyrinth, was 69. Two days before his death, Bowie released his 25th album, Blackstar, on his birthday.

Alan Rickman

The Truly Madly Deeply and Harry Potter actor died Jan. 14 after a battle with cancer. Rickman, who was notably recognized for his roles in Die Hard and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, was 69.

Nancy Reagan

Nancy Reagan, the actress-turned-first lady who would take her "Just Say No" anti-drug campaign to mass audiences through appearances on Diff'rent Strokes and other shows, died March 6 at age 94. The former Nancy Davis, the second wife of Ronald Reagan, the 40th U.S. president and 33rd governor of California, died of congestive heart failure at home in Los Angeles.

Dan Haggerty

Haggerty, the husky, bushy-bearded actor who starred as the nature-loving outdoorsman Grizzly Adams on the big screen and TV, died Jan. 15 from cancer at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams star was 74.

Doris Roberts

Doris Roberts, who delighted audiences as the meddling mother next door on Everybody Loves Raymond, died at 90. Roberts won Emmys for best supporting actress in a comedy for playing Marie Barone, the mother of Ray Romano's sportswriter character, in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005. She had won another Emmy in 1983 for a stint on St. Elsewhere. Roberts also wrote a 2005 best seller, Are You Hungry, Dear? Life, Laughs and Lasagna.

Rene Angelil

Angelil, Celine Dion's husband and former manager, died Jan. 14 died at his home in Las Vegas. The longtime manager, who discovered Dion­­­­­­ when she was 12, was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999 and had surgery in 2013. He was 73.

Paul Kantner

Jefferson Airplane guitarist and founding member Paul Kantner died on Jan. 28 in San Francisco. Kantner died from a multiple organ failure at the age of 74. Jefferson Airplane was a pioneer music group in the Bay Area in the mid-'60s to the early '70s. The band’s music became labeled as the “San Francisco Sound.” Kantner is the first of the Jefferson Airplane’s founding members to have died.

Abe Vigoda

The three-time Emmy nominee and mob boss in The Godfather died on Jan. 26 in his New Jersey home. The actor was 94. Vigoda was also known for his role of Fish in ABC sitcom Barney Miller.

Maurice White

Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White died on Feb. 4 at his Los Angeles home. The founder of the horn-driven band that sold more than 90 million albums was 74 and was suffering from Parkinson’s disease and had been keeping up with treatment throughout the years. White stopped touring with the iconic group when he started to show symptoms of the disease back in 1995. 

Bud Collins

Bud Collins, the pioneering tennis journalist and TV analyst known for his kaleidoscopic clothing and encyclopedic knowledge of the sport, died March 4 in his home in Brookline, Mass. He was 86. Collins wrote for the Boston Globe for 50 years and worked in the NBC booth from 1972 until the network let him go in 2007. For viewers, he was as much a part of NBC’s coverage of Wimbledon as strawberries and cream.

Harper Lee

Lee died Feb. 19 at the age of 89. The To Kill a Mockingbird author was a resident at the Meadows, an assisted living facility, in her hometown Monroeville in Alabama. According to her publisher, Lee "died peacefully." The author published only one novel until Go Set a Watchman was released last July by HarperCollins. Lee was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2007.

George Kennedy

George Kennedy, a bear of a man who won an Oscar for his performance as the sadistic chain gang prisoner Dragline in <>Cool Hand Luke and delighted audiences as a dimwitted police captain in the zany Naked Gun comedies, died Feb. 28 of natural causes in Boise, Idaho. He was 91. Until his recognition in Cool Hand Luke (1967), Kennedy was usually cast as a tough guy. Following his Oscar win for best supporting actor, he went on to star in The Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969) and received second billing in such films as The Good Guys and the Bad Guys (1969) with Robert Mitchum; Dirty Dingus Magee (1970) with Frank Sinatra; Fools' Parade (1971) with James Stewart; and The Eiger Sanction (1975) with Clint Eastwood, a frequent co-star.

David Margulies

Margulies, who played New York City Mayor Lenny Clotch in the Ghostbusters films, died Jan. 11 in New York after a long illness. The veteran actor, who starred as Tony Soprano’s sleazy lawyer Neil Mink on The Sopranos and appeared in more than a dozen Broadway shows, was 78.

Michelle McNamara

Michelle McNamara, a crime writer and the wife of comedian and actor Patton Oswalt, died in her sleep while at her home in Los Angeles. She was 46.

Brian Bedford

The Tony Award-winning classical actor died Jan. 13 at his home in Santa Barbara. Bedford, who voiced the title role in Disney's 1973 animated movie Robin Hood, was 80.

Jim Simpson

Simpson, the longtime NBC sportscaster, died Jan. 13 in Scottsdale, Ariz., following a short illness. After a successful radio and TV career with ABC, CBS, ESPN and TNT, he was inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame in 2000. Simpson was 88.

Gil Hill

Gil Hill, the real-life Detroit policeman who portrayed Eddie Murphy’s no-nonsense boss in the three Beverly Hills Cop films, died Feb. 18 at age 84 at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit. Hill, who had battled respiratory problems, played frustrated police Inspector Douglas Todd, who frequently dressed down the unorthodox — yet wildly successful — Detective Axel Foley (Murphy), in the box-office smash hit Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and its 1987 and 1994 sequels.

Tony Burton

Tony Burton, an actor from the Rocky franchise, died Feb. 25 at age 78. Burton, a Flint, Mich., native, was best known for playing Apollo Creed's trainer Duke in the boxing films. He won Flint Golden Gloves light heavyweight titles in 1955 and again in 1957, before fighting professionally briefly. Burton (pictured left with Rocky star Sylvester Stallone) went on to an acting career, which included roles in The Shining and Stir Crazy.

Lita Baron

Baron, the Spanish-born actress and nightclub performer, died Dec. 16 in Palm Springs of complications from a broken hip. The singer, dancer, actress was the former wife of Hollywood leading man Rory Calhoun. She was 92.

William Needles

Needles, Canada's oldest working actor, died Jan. 12 at a hospice in Alliston, Ontario. The actor, who appeared in more than 100 productions at Stratford Festival over 47 seasons, was 97.

George Gaynes

The actor, best known for playing Commandant Eric Lassard in all seven Police Academy films and Henry Warnimont on the 1980s sitcom Punky Brewster, died Feb. 16 at his daughter’s home in North Bend, Wash. He was 98.
 

Tommy Kelly

Kelly, who was cast by Mark Twain for the character Tom in the 1938 film The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, died at the age of 90. Kelly, who retired from Hollywood fame by the time he turned 25, died of congestive heart failure in his North Carolina home on Jan. 26. After his Hollywood days the actor and World War II veteran earned his Ph.D. and became a high school teacher and counselor in California. 

Johnny Duncan

The original Robin in the 1949 Batman serial, Johnny Duncan, died on Feb. 8 in his Florida home at the age of 92. The actor was discovered by a 20th Century Fox talent scout in the early 40s and landed his first movie in 1943. 

Bob Elliot

On Feb. 2, the soft-spoken half of the hilarious radio and television team Bob and Ray, Bob Elliot, died at the age of 92. Elliot’s son Chris Elliot is the former Late Night With David Letterman staff writer and Saturday Night Live player. Elliot performed comedy sketches on Bob and Ray as well as appeared on multiple other radio and television shows. 

Joe Alaskey

The voice of Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck died on Feb. 3 in Green Island, N.Y. Alaskey died following a short illness at the age of 63. Other animated characters that Alaskey helped bring to life were Sylvester, Tweety and Grandpa Lou Pickles on Rugrats.

H. Read Jackson

The former producer for 60 Minutes and ABC World News Tonight died on Jan. 25 after a long battle with cancer. He was 71. The longtime executive at Fox Sports Net was residing in an assisted-living facility in California when he died. Jackson left television in 2011 and launched a company that worked in developing mobile apps. 

John B. Mansbridge

Two-time Oscar-nominated art director John B. Mansbridge, known for his work on such films as Tron, Bedknobs, Broomsticks and many other Disney movies, died an. 11 at age 98. Mansbridge received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Art Directors Guild in 2006. The art director had spent more than two decades of his career at Disney, working as a designer and supervising art director for live-action features. Mansbridge also earned an Emmy Award in 1988 for his work on the CBS series Beauty and the Beast.

Richard Libertini

The veteran character actor, who also played Chevy Chase’s boss in the Fletch films, died on Jan 7 after a two-year battle with cancer. Libertini’s most notable appearances were in the Big Trouble, Days of Heaven and Penny Marshall’s Awakenings. The Massachusetts native had also made a debut on Broadway and had multiple roles in '80s television classics.  

Pat Harrington Jr.

The actor on the long-running CBS comedy, One Day at a Time, died on Jan. 6. The actor made his final onscreen appearance, after a long and acclaimed career in television, in 2012 on an episode of Hot in Cleveland.  

Beau St. Clair

Beau St. Clair, the creative partner of Pierce Brosnan and founder of their production company DreamTime, died on Jan. 9 at the age of 63 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Brosnan and St. Clair helped produce an array of hits together, including Laws of Attraction, The November Man and The Matador.

Glenn Frey

Glenn Frey, founding member and guitarist for famed rock band The Eagles, died on Jan. 18 in New York. Frey, 67, had been fighting a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis and other intestinal issues that led to the band to postpone multiple shoes. The Detroit native embarked on a solo career in the '80s and continued to leave a mark both as a solo artist and as a member of the famed band for years.

Terry Wogan

The beloved BBC presenter died after a short battle with cancer on Jan. 30. The Irish radio host, who was best known for his long-time running radio morning show Wake Up to Wogan, also hosted quiz programs, game shows and a television talk show in the 1980s.

Herb Braha

Costumer designer and actor Herb Braha died in Los Angeles on Feb. 6 due to a congestive heart failure. The actor, who was part of the off-Broadway hit Godspell, also appeared in multiple roles on television but most notably remembered for his roles in Child’s Play, The Howling, The Ski Bum and Rock 'n' Roll High. Braha, who was a Massachusetts native, is now survived by his brothers Charles and James, two nieces, a nephew and a grandnephew.

Jim Simpson

Jim Simpson, the longtime NBC sportscaster who gave then-fledgling ESPN an instant dose of credibility as one of the cable network’s first on-air hires, died Jan. 13 in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a short illness. He was 88. Simpson worked for NBC from 1964-79 and was best known for handling the play-by-play for American Football League and later NFL games. Fifty years ago, he did the call for the first Super Bowl on NBC Radio. The polished Simpson left for ESPN in 1979 and was frequently paired with colorful analyst Dick Vitale on college basketball games. They teamed on the first NCAA contest that ESPN televised.

Lennie Bluett

The singer, actor and dancer who appeared in the classic film Gone With The Wind died a few days short of his 97th birthday, on Jan. 1. The longtime entertainer will be remembered for his time on the Gone With the Wind set, where he had Clark Gable and the rest of the film's productions staff take off the "Colored" and "Whites Only" signs on the film set's restrooms.  

Mike Minor

The son of the producer behind such series as My Three Sons, Family Affair and The Millionaire died on Jan. 28 in New York. Minor who was born in San Francisco, made appearances in episodes of CHiPS, Vegas, L.A. Law, All My Children and many other shows. Survivors for the actor include his son John, three grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. 

Noreen Corcoran

Noreen Corcoran,who starred as the teenager adopted by her uncle in the 1950s-'60s sitcom Bachelor Father, died on Jan. 15. Corocran died of a cardiopulmonary disease in Van Nuys, Calif., at the age of 72. Corcoran’s role on Bachelor Father ended up being the beginning of her acting career as she went on to appear in multiple sitcoms and feature films. 

Margaret Forster

Renowned British author Margaret Forster died in London on Feb. 8 after suffering from back and spine cancer. The author had previously undergone a double mastectomy and fully recovered until the cancer returned 10 years ago. One of Forster’s critically acclaimed novels, Georgy Girl, was turned into a hit movie in the 1960s.  

Stanley Mann

Oscar-nominated screenwriter for such films as Conan the Destroyer and Damien: Omen II, Stanley Mann, died at the age of 87. Mann, who received his nomination after co-writing the adapted screeplay for The Collector (1965) died on Jan. 11 after a long illness. Mann also went onto to become a writer, actor for CBC Radio and a novelist in 1978.  

Gary Menteer

Writer, director and producer for long-running sitcom Family Matters, Gary Menteer died on Jan. 18 at the age of 76. The former actor and choreographer mainly worked closely with famed TV producer Garry Marshall, which he co-wrote and produced for shows such as Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Joanie Loves Chachi. Menteer also made appearances in hit movies such as Mary Poppins (1964) and Funny Lady (1975).  

Daniel Gerson

The screenwriter of the Pixar hit Monsters, Inc. and the Oscar-winning Big Hero 6 died on Feb. 6 after battling brain cancer. He was 49. Gerson also assisted on other big-time animated movies like Chicken Little (2005), Cars (2006), and his last final feature, last year’s Inside Out. 

Bruce Golin

Bruce Golin, an Emmy-nominated producer on CSI, died Feb. 27 at his home in Agoura, Calif., after a short battle with cancer at age 58. Golin had most recently been virtual reality production for CBS Digital, producing visual effects for The Last Man on Earth, Transparent, Hindsight and Daredevil.

Burt Nodella

Burt Nodella, who won back-to-back Emmy Awards for outstanding comedy series for producing the classic spy spoof Get Smart, died Feb. 23 at age 91. Nodella, (left, with fellow producer George Schlatter at a 2011 book signing), also produced several telefilms, including CBS’ The Phantom of Hollywood (1974), which starred Jack Cassidy as an enigmatic killer who stalks a dilapidated studio backlot about to be sold to developers.

Chip Hooper

Chip Hooper, the worldwide head of music at Paradigm Talent Agency, died March 5 after a long battle with cancer. He was 53. Hooper, who repeatedly appeared on Billboard’s annual Power 100 list, was the personal agent for Dave Matthews Band and Phish, among others, and oversaw Paradigm’s 115-agent team working a roster of 2,200 clients.

Gary Hutzel

Gary Hutzel, the four-time Emmy winner whose visual effects artistry was seen on such shows as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Battlestar Galactica and Caprica, died at age 60. Hutzel died March 3 of an apparent heart attack in Vancouver while in production on the upcoming Freeform supernatural TV drama Beyond. Hutzel received 20 Emmy nominations during his career.

Ralph Baruch

Ralph Baruch, a pioneering executive at Viacom who guided the company’s spinoff from CBS in the early 1970s, died March 3 at his home in New York at age 92. Baruch served as Viacom’s president and CEO from 1971-83 and as its chairman until July 1987. 

Jack Lindquist

Jack Lindquist, a popular marketing executive at Disneyland who spent almost four decades with the Walt Disney Co., died at age 88. Lindquist, who began at the park in September 1955, two months after it opened, died Feb. 28 of natural causes at his home in Anaheim. 

Joey Martin Feek

Singer-songwriter Joey Martin Feek died March 4 after a battle with cervical cancer at age 40. Along with her husband, songwriter Rory Feek, she performed as half of the duo Joey + Rory on the CMT show Can You Duet? in 2008. A third-place finish on the program earned them a recording contract with Sugar Hill Records. Their first album as a duo, The Life of a Song, was released in October 2008 and peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The success of their music led to winning top new vocal duo at the 2010 Academy of Country Music Awards. Their sophomore album, simply titled Album Number Two, also hit the top 10 on the albums chart upon its release that year. Their most recent album, Hymns, debuted at No. 1 on Top Country Albums and Top Christian Albums.

Lee Reherman

Lee Reherman, a fan favorite as the towering, muscular Hawk on American Gladiators, died March 1 at his home in Manhattan Beach, Calif. He was 49. After American Gladiators ended in 1996, Reherman went on to make numerous appearances in movies and TV shows. He was a regular on the CW series The First Family, playing a White House security agent, and had recently filmed an episode of Jane The Virgin.

Pat Conroy

Author Pat Conroy, whose beloved works The Great Santini and The Prince of Tides are set against the vistas of the South Carolina coast that was his home, was lauded as a great chronicler of the human condition and a humble and loving soul. Conroy, 70, died March 4 at his home in Beaufort, about an hour south of Charleston, surrounded by family and friends at the time, according to his publisher. The author died less than a month after announcing on Facebook that he was battling cancer. He promised to "fight it hard" and told his fans "I owe you a novel and I intend to deliver it."

Renee Valente

Renee Valente, the veteran casting executive and Emmy Award winner who was the first woman to serve as president of the Producers Guild of America, died Feb. 20 at age 88 at her home in Studio City, Calif. Valente also was the first female vice president of Screen Gems and Columbia Pictures Television.

Alice Arlen

Alice Arlen, who wrote the screenplay for Mike Nichols' 1983 film Silkwood with Nora Ephron, died Feb. 29 at age 75. Arlen died at her home in New York after a long illness. Arlen and Ephron were nominated for Oscars for their collaboration on Silkwood. The film, which also won the Golden Globe for best picture, nabbed five Oscar nominations in all, including nods for directing and for performances by Meryl Streep (pictured) and Cher.

Jim Clark

Jim Clark, who won both an Oscar and BAFTA for his film editing work on Roland Joffe's The Killing Fields (pictured), died Feb. 25 at age 85. Over a career that would go on to span more than 40 films, including Midnight Cowboy and Marathon Man as well as several directing credits, it was 1984's Khmer Rouge historical drama The Killing Fields that would see Clark earn his highest accolades.The pic collected three Academy Awards and eight BAFTAs, including two editing awards for Clark. He would follow up his BAFTA win with another from the British Academy in 1987 for The Mission, again with Joffe.

Tony Dyson

Dyson, the British professor who built Star Wars' original R2-D2 droid, died at his home on the Mediterranean island of Gozo at age 68. Dyson's body was found March 4 by local police when a neighbor called them after noticing his door was open, the BBC reported. It is believed he died of natural causes. While the look of R2-D2 was designed by Ralph McQuarrie, it was Dyson — who owned The White Horse Toy Co. — who was commissioned to make all eight versions of the robot for the original Star Wars film trilogy. Dyson later worked on Superman 2, Dragon Slayer and Moonraker, for which he would build 36 laser gun-toting model spacemen. He would also apply his skills to the the Kirk Douglas-starring sci-fi Saturn 3 from 1980, helping build the evil robot Hector.

Tony Warren

Tony Warren, the British scriptwriter who created soap opera Coronation Street, died March 1. He was 79. Coronation Street — as it became known when it first aired on Manchester-based Granada Television in December 1960 after the BBC rejected the idea — would soon become the most-watched show in the U.K., go on to change the face of British TV and become a pillar of popular culture in Britain. In 2010, it became the world's longest-running TV soap opera in production.

Bayard Johnson

The co-writer of the 1988 Tarzan and the Lost City died on Feb. 10 after a long battle with cancer. Johnson also co-wrote The Second Jungle Book: Mowgli & Baloo.

Robert Beecher

The builder of the iconic Horseshoe Stage Theatre in Hollywood died on Feb. 21 of natural causes. The character actor was 91. The burly actor was mostly cast as heavies, gangsters or bad guys in films.

Frank Finlay

The Oscar-nominated British actor died on Jan. 30, according to several British media reports. The actor was 89 at the time of death and is widely known for his appearance in films such as The Three Musketeers (1973), Murder By Decree (1979), A Christmas Carol (1984) and his most recent work in the 2002 Pianist. Finlay, who earned his Oscar for his supporting role in Othello (1965), died peacefully at home with cause of death unknown.  

Angela “Big Ang” Raiola

Mob Wives star Angela "Big Ang" Raiola died Feb. 18 at age 55. Vinnie Medugno, on behalf of her family, posted that Raiola "peacefully ended her battle with cancer and was called home" at 3:01 a.m. Raiola had been battling stage 4 brain and lung cancer after being diagnosed with throat cancer last year and undergoing several surgeries.

Rick Ax

Rick Ax, the owner of Gold Coast Management and a talent manager for more than 25 years, died at age 56 on Feb. 8 of colon cancer at his home in Venice, Calif. Originally from New York, Ax moved to the West Coast in his early 20s. He started out as an agent, then transitioned to becoming a manager, and his longtime clients included Colm Meaney, Michael Cudlitz, Radha Mitchell, Mike Hagerty, Kurt Fuller, Eve Best, Lee Arenberg, Lesley Boone and Angeline Ball.

Douglas Slocombe

Douglas Slocombe, the three-time Oscar-nominated cinematographer who collaborated with Steven Spielberg on the first three Indiana Jones films, died at age 103. The famed British director of photography died Feb. 22 in a hospital in London. Slocombe received his Oscar noms for his work on Travels With My Aunt (1972), directed by George Cukor; Fred Zinnemann’s Julia (1977), starring Jane Fonda; and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), the first of Spielberg’s Indiana Jones films with Harrison Ford as the adventurer.

Jack Feierman

Jack Feierman, a composer, conductor, arranger and trumpeter who played with Count Basie’s band and served as the musical director for Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme for more than two decades, died. He was 91. Feierman, who performed with most every size orchestra, from swing bands to symphonies, died Jan. 19 at his home in Sherman Oaks after a battle with cancer.

Jean Rabier

Cinematographer Jean Rabier, who shot more than three dozen films by famed French New Wave director Claude Chabrol, has died. He was 89. Rabier (right, with director Jacques Demy on 1964's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg), also lensed Cleo From 5 to 7 (1962) for Agnes Varda, died Feb. 15 in Port-de-Bouc in southern France.

Sonny James

Sonny James, the country singer known as "The Southern Gentleman," died Feb. 22 at age 87. James helped personify a lighter musical style of country in the mid-1950s, continuing his career through the early 1980s. He was also one of the first artists in the format to consistently see his records cross over to the pop charts. James' streak of 16 consecutive No. 1 hits on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart from 1967 through 1971 established a success level that went unsurpassed for close to two decades, helping him to eventually gain membership into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

George Martin

George Martin, the “Fifth Beatle” and British treasure who signed the Fab Four to a label contract when no one else would, produced virtually all their songs and introduced lavish arrangements into “Yesterday” and “A Day in the Life,” died March 8 at age 90. The producer, executive, arranger, musician and British knight was behind a whopping 23 No. 1 singles in the U.S. and 30 in the U.K.

Richard Davalos

Richard Davalos, who was featured in such classic films as Cool Hand Luke (1967) and East of Eden (1955), died March 8 at age 85 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. Davalos is best known for his role in East of Eden as Aron Trask, the younger brother of James Dean’s character, Cal. He also starred opposite Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke as convict Blind Dick.

Ken Adam

Production designer Ken Adam, the two-time Oscar winner who created the Pentagon war room for Dr. Strangelove and the inside of Fort Knox for Goldfinger, died March 10 at his home in London at age 95. Adam earned his Academy Awards for his work on Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1976) and Nicholas Hytner’s The Madness of King George (1994).

Martha Wright

Martha Wright, the singer and actress who replaced Mary Martin in the Tony-winning Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals South Pacific and The Sound of Music, died March 1 in Newburyport, Mass. at age 92. In South Pacific, Wright took over for Martin as nurse Ensign Nellie Forbush in June 1951 and appeared in more than 1,000 performances, singing the amusing “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair” and other numbers.
