The slasher film marks the seventh film in the horror franchise. The story centers around Heather, who discovers that she was adopted after learning she has a grandmother. Lionsgate opens the R-rated movie Jan. 4.
The R-rated movie, opening Jan. 18, stars Mark Wahlberg as a former cop who uncovers a political scandal. Russell Crowe plays the mayor. New Regency produced and financed the film, which will be released by 20th Century Fox.
The violent period drama, about a group of Los Angeles Police Department detectives who fight gangsters in the 1940s and 1950s, stars Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The release of the R-rated film was pushed back from early September 2012 to Jan. 11 in the wake of the Aurora theater shooting. The extra time allowed Warner Bros. to remove a scene of a shoot-out inside a movie theater.
The Last Stand
The Arnold Schwarzenegger features numerous weapons, including assault rifles, machine guns and pistols. The R-rated film stars Schwarzenegger as a the sheriff of a border town who stops a drug lord from fleeing into Mexico. Lionsgate opens the movie Jan. 18.
Hansel and Gretel
In this twist on the fairy tale, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) are weapon-carrying witch hunters. The siblings are grown up now, and expert hunters. Paramount opens the R-rated movie on Jan. 25.
The R-rated crime-thriller stars Jason Statham as a gun-toting professional thief who exacts revenge on those who betray him. He stars opposite Jennifer Lopez. FilmDistrict releases the R-rated film on Jan. 22.
Bullet to the Head
The R-rated film is heavy on firearms, including a submachine gun. Sylvester Stallone, a hitman, teams with a young detective to exact revenge for the murder of their respective partners. From Warner Bros, the film opens Feb. 1 and is based on the French graphic novel Du Plomb Dans La Tete.
A Good Day to Die Hard
In this outing, John McClane -- once again played by Bruce Willis -- travels to Russia to help his son, played by Jai Courtney, only to find himself caught up in a terrorist plot. In an exclusive poster appearing inEntertainment Weekly, both men are featured carring assault rifles. Fox opens the film, which isn't yet rated, on Feb. 13.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation
The sequel, set for release on March 29, is packs plenty of heat in terms of weaponry, featuring rocket launchers, submachine guns, assualt rifles and machine guns. The ensemble cast includes Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum and Arnold Vosloo. Paramount will push for a PG-13 rating.
