Though Jersey Shore has spent two seasons in New Jersey and one in Miami, producers decided to send the cast to Florence for the show's fourth season.
Immediately after filming the fourth season in Florence, the cast returned to New Jersey to film a fifth season over the summer. It is set to air in February.
The crew lived in what was originally a bank building. “Because it was a corporate office building-type structure, there was no kitchen, no bathrooms, no bedrooms," series creator and executive producer SallyAnn Salsano said on Wednesday's Good Morning America. "But I walked into it and all I could say was ‘This is it!’"
Sammi and Ronnie's relationship was very turbulent last season, with Ronnie destroying his on-again-off-again girlfriend's room and Sammi temporarily leaving the house. It looks like the couple has reconciled — if only temporarily.
Cast member Snooki made headlines in late May when she lost her Italian license after crashing a Fiat Multipa into the back of a police car.
According to the Associated Press, viewers can expect a lot of fighting in season four, as “being stuck with each other around the clock in a foreign country led to some major brawls.”
The cast finished filming season five in New Jersey Tuesday, August 2nd, just two days before the fourth season's premiere. As of now, no plans have been announced regarding season six.
Florence's mayor, Matteo Renzi, issued a number of strict rules for cast members if they were to film in the city. Among them: The cast will not be filmed in bars and clubs that serve alcohol, and the cast will not be filmed drinking in public.
