The McElroy family will write a revival of 'Journey Into Mystery' starting in April.

Not content with dominating the world of podcasts with series like The Adventure Zone, My Brother, My Brother and Me and Sawbones, nor with breaking into comics with last year’s best-selling Adventure Zone graphic novel, the McElroy family has set its sights on a new target: The Marvel Universe.

Launching in April, War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery will be a five-issue comic book miniseries written by Clint, Griffin, Justin and Travis McElroy (and drawn by André Lima Araujo) that ties in with the much-hyped War of the Realms storyline being released the same month. While a war for the fate of reality rages in the main series, Journey Into Mystery will follow a group of heroes — including Miles Morales — as they try to save Thor’s baby sister, who might be the key to stopping the conflict.

For those curious about the crossover between Journey Into Mystery — a repurposing of the title of the comic book series that introduced Marvel’s version of Thor, back in 1962 — and the McElroys’ Adventure Zone, it should be noted that the McElroys’ announcement of the series described the story as one where Earth is "besieged by an army of Frost Giants, Trolls and Fire Goblins," and the series protagonists "must go on an epic quest to save Earth’s only hope!" So, perhaps existing fans can expect something of a similar fantasy scope, rather than a straightforward superhero comic.

The first issue of War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery will be released April 10.
