AfterShock Comics Launches "Year of Reading Dangerously" Branding for 2019

AfterShock Comics, the independent publisher behind titles like Animosity and Babyteeth, has a resolution it would like to suggest to those still wondering how to spend the next 12 months, declaring 2019 the "Year of Reading Dangerously" as part of a new promotional push.

"'Read Dangerously' emphasizes the caliber of our content," Steve Rotterdam, svp of sales and marketing for the company, explained in a statement. "It’s an open invitation to readers looking to break away from the more conventional choices available to them and can also be embraced by retailers in their efforts to reach out and connect to new audiences. And we’re prepared to help them do that."

The "Read Dangerously" branding will feature in AfterShock’s releases beginning late January, as well as in digital advertising (including podcast sponsorship), promotional partnerships with comic book store retailers and convention placement throughout 2019. More plans are scheduled to be announced at comic retailer meeting ComicsPRO in February.

"As a result, we’ve published some of the industry’s edgiest and most compelling content since our launch in 2015 and inked deals over the past year to bring a few of our flagship titles to the big screen with major studio partners. With groundbreaking new titles set for debut this year, there has never been a better time than right now to discover all that AfterShock has to offer."

AfterShock’s first launches of 2019 are Stronghold and Oberon, both debuting in February.
