AfterShock Media Hires New Development Executives
AfterShock Media is hiring a raft of new talent to help bring AfterShock IP to other media. The move comes after AfterShock Media was formed last week, cementing a relationship between AfterShock Comics and distributor Rive Gauche that had already resulted in two AfterShock titles being developed for film and television.
Former Parkes + MacDonald VP of Production Wynn Wygal has joined the company as senior vice president, film and television, where she will be joined by Carrie Stein, former head of global scripted television at eOne, who’ll be working as global film & TV consultant and tasked with leading international expansion of co-production opportunities, as well as local language production. Working alongside Stein will be Christina Poray, who moves from Kapital Entertainment to become AfterShock’s director of development, global film & TV.

Additionally, Ryan Carroll has been promoted to the position of director, comics/film & TV liaison — he’d previously been AfterShock Comics’ development co-ordinator — while longtime AfterShock publicity veteran Aaron Marion has taken the role of director of publicity.
Finally, Cara Stechmann has joined the company as a development assistant, working with the film & TV division.
“As AfterShock Comics and Rive Gauche begin their strategic alliance as AfterShock Media, we’re committed to having the very best talent in place supporting and driving our global growth,” Jon Kramer, AfterShock Media CEO, said in a statement. “AfterShock Media now has a team in place to exploit its growing collection of IP through Rive Gauche’s TV production and distribution capabilities. We are able to convert the IP from comic to TV in many ways including traditional domestic placement, international co-productions, animation, foreign language adaptations and more. We expect to partner with many different producers and media outlets around the world.”
AfterShock Comics launched in 2015, and has published a number of titles from creators including The Boys co-creator Garth Ennis, and 100 Bullets writer Brian Azzarello. Its breakout titles include Animosity and Undone by Blood, a metaphysical western currently in development for television.
