The AMBI Pictures movie also stars Skin, the lead singer from the U.K. band Skunk Anansie

Alec Baldwin and Danny Glover are set to enter the labyrinth. The pair have signed on to star in the sci-fi/action film Andron -- The Black Labyrinth for AMBI Pictures.

AMBI is a newly launched film production and finance company owned and run by Andrea Iervolino and Lady Monika Bacardi. They recently unveiled the Barry Levinson-directed Al Pacino starrer The Humbling at the Toronto Film Festival.

Andron begins when a group of young men and women awake in a dark, claustrophobic maze. They don't remember who they are or how they got stuck in the black labyrinth. The group must learn to decipher codes, understand the signals and beat the tests in a mysterious and bizarre place. Out of necessity, they struggle to form a bond to survive, while the outside world watches and wages bets on their fates. Baldwin and Glover join a cast that also includes Michelle Ryan (BBC's EastEnders), Skin (lead singer from the U.K. band Skunk Anansie), Jon Kortajarena (A Single Man), Gale Harold (Queer as Folk) and Leo Howard (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra).

Francesco Cinquemani wrote the screenplay and is directing the film, which marks his feature directorial debut.

Principal photography will kick off this month in Malta, in collaboration with the Malta Film Commission, and in Italy.

Iervolino and Bacardi are producing and financing Andron, which they will shop to U.S. distributors. AMBI's international sales arm, AMBI Distribution, is handling worldwide sales.

"The story of Andron is enough to excite sci-fi fans worldwide, but when you add actors like Alec Baldwin and Danny Glover, the meter rises even higher," Iervolino said. "We're very excited to add this film to our production slate and eager to get to work on a film we believe has great breakout potential."

AMBI's upcoming slate includes the crime-thriller Hope Lost, starring Danny Trejo, Mischa Barton and Michael Madsen; the action-thriller 2047 — Sights of Death; and the animated feature films Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad and East End.
