Amazon Closes Deal for Chris Pratt-Starrer 'The Tomorrow War'

The Skydance film will have a July 2 streaming debut.

Amazon has closed a deal for the Chris Pratt-starring sci-fi feature The Tomorrow War.

The Skydance film, which was first delayed from a 2020 holiday release via Paramount due to COVID, will now have a July 2 streaming debut.

Chris McKay directed the film that takes place after time travelers come to the present day to tell mankind that in the future they are losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The time travelers must recruit soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future to join the fight. Pratt plays high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Pratt), who is determined to save the world for his young daughter. He teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons).

Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson and Edwin Hodge also star in the movie, which was produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Jules Daly, David Goyer, and Adam Kolbrenner. Rob Cowan, Pratt, Brian Oliver, and Bradley J. Fischer executive produced.

The studio and the streaming service previously brokered a deal for the Coming to America sequel and the Michael B. Jordan-fronted Tom Clancy adaptation Without Remorse.
