'American Fable' Conjures Up Dark Fairy-Tale World in First Trailer (Exclusive Video)

American Fable, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in March 2016, visits a dark world of fairy-tale creatures from the mind of an imaginative young girl.

The Hollywood Reporter debuts the first trailer for the directorial debut of Anne Hamilton.

Peyton Kennedy stars as the titular character, Gitty, an 11-year-old who is torn between keeping her family's secret and saving a man from it. Set in the 1980s on a Midwestern farm, Gitty's internal fantasy comes alive among the fields of corn and countryside as a horned horseman looms upon her and her dreams darken as she dons horns herself. As the family's livelihood is at stake in exchange for the life of another's, Gitty receives the scary story she asked for while pleading for a happy ending.

American Fable will be released on Feb. 17 via IFC Midnight. Gavin MacIntosh, Marci Miller, Kip Pardue, Zuleikha Robinson, Richard Schiff, Rusty Schwimmer also star.
