Cats and dogs are not our friends.

This summer, all of Man's Best Friends will stop being so friendly.

Following the erotic horror series InSeXts, writer Marguerite Bennett is teaming up with AfterShock Comics for a new comic book series set to unsettle the animal lovers in the audience. Animosity, which launches in August, shows what happens after the animal kingdom decides to assert its dominance over humans.

As the tagline of the series explains, "One day, the animals woke up. They started thinking. They started talking. They started taking revenge."

The series, described by the publisher as "new kind of black comedy," follows one girl as she and her dog set off on a road trip across America from New York City to San Francisco in search of the one person who might be able to keep her safe. Superzero artist Rafael de Latorre illustrates the new series.

Animosity No. 1 will be in comic book stores and available digitally Aug. 3. More information about the series can be found on the AfterShock website, with covers for the first issue, and the full solicit information from the publisher, below.
