Game publisher Annapurna Interactive has revealed its latest game will be Outer Wilds, an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop. The game will be coming to PC and additional platforms later this year.

Outer Wilds is a first-person space simulator game that invites players to explore planets, moons and alien structures and spacecrafts to uncover mysteries from around the solar system. Planets in Outer Wilds offer multiple hidden locations that change as time passes, uncovering sunken cities that had been swallowed by sand or surfaces that erode beneath your feet as you explore. Gamers will also have access to a variety of tools and gadgets that will help them interact with and explore their alien surroundings.

Outer Wilds is being developed by Los Angeles-based Mobius Digital, based on a student project by creative lead Alex Beachum. The game's alpha version won the Seamus McNally Grand Prize and Excellence in Design awards at the 2015 Independent Games Festival.

Annapurna Interactive's previous titles include What Remains of Edith Finch, Gorogoa and Florence. The game publisher is a division of film production studio Annapurna Pictures.

No official release date has been announced for the game, but additional information will be available at outerworlds.com as the launch date approaches.
