Archie Comics Pays Tribute to Royal Baby

On Wednesday, the name of the royal baby was announced as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor — and among the first to pay tribute was Archie Comics.

"I'm baby," the official Twitter account for the popular comics posted

The child, born Monday, is the first for Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry of the United Kingdom.

Social media lit up like a Christmas tree as soon as the name was announced, with "Archie" trending No. 1 worldwide almost instantaneously.

Meghan said being a mother is "magic" and that Archie has "just been a dream."

"I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy," she added.

The red-headed character Archie Andrews was created in 1941 by writer Vic Bloom, artist Bob Montana and publisher John L. Goldwater. The live-action version of Archie is portrayed by K.J. Apa on CW's Riverdale.

"Best. Crossover. Ever. #Riverdale goes ROYAL. Congrats to the Meghan and Harry #archie!" said Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa via Twitter.

Markle, 37, married Prince Harry, 34, in May 2018 at Windsor Castle. They announced in October they were expecting. The child is the seventh in line to the British throne.
