'Katara and the Pirate’s Silver' is due out next month.

Oregon based Dark Horse Comics continues its expansion of Avatar: The Last Airbender next month with a new graphic novel, Avatar: The Last Airbender — Katara and the Pirate’s Silver — one that pushes Katara into unlikely new alliances in order to survive when she’s separated from her usual crew. The Hollywood Reporter has an exclusive preview.

Set during the second season of the acclaimed Nickelodeon series, Katara and the Pirate’s Silver follows the eponymous waterbender as she has to go it alone after being separated from the rest of the group during a Fire Nation ambush. IT will lead to a partnership with some very unexpected allies, if she wants to be reunited with Aang, Sokka and Appa.

The graphic novel — the first standalone Avatar graphic novel from Dark Horse, which has been publishing spin-off comic book trilogies set in the world of the show since 2012 — is co-written by Faith Erin Hicks and Tim Hedrick, the latter of whom worked on the Nickelodeon series. Peter Wartman illustrates.

Avatar: The Last Airbender — Katara and the Pirate’s Silver will be released Oct. 14. Read on for an exclusive preview.
