Ellen Page, Diego Luna and James Norton are starring in the remake of the 90s sci-fi thriller.

Beau Mirchoff is going back to school for Sony's Flatliners

The Awkward actor will play Brad, a medical student, in the sci-fi reboot. Ellen Page and Diego Luna head up a cast that also includes War & Peace's James Norton, Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev and Dope actress Kiersey Clemons

Flatliners follows a group of medical students who conduct near-death experiments to explore what "lies beyond," to disastrous consequence. The original 1990 thriller starred Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland, who will be returning for the Sony reboot.

Niels Arden Oplev, who helmed the original Swedish Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, will direct the project for Sony from a screenplay by Source Code writer Ben Ripley. Actor Michael Douglas and Laurence Mark are set to produce, along with David Blackman.

Mirchoff is best known for his role in MTV's Awkward, which just finished its fifth season. His feature film credits include the YA sci-fi adaptation I Am Number Four and the upcoming coming-of-age story Grass Stains, where he appears alongside Tye Sheridan and Austin Abrams.

He is repped by APA, Velocity and Ginsburg Daniels.
