'Bates Motel's' Freddie Highmore on Spider-Man Reboot: "I Would Love to Be Considered" (Video)

<p><strong>Freddie Highmore</strong> stars as Norman Bates in the prequel from <em>Lost&#39;s</em> <strong>Carlton Cuse</strong> and <em>Friday Night Lights</em>&#39; <strong>Kerry Ehrin</strong>. The series will explore Norman&#39;s back story&nbsp;that helped forge the infamous serial killer.</p>
"You always feel like you can identify with him," the 23-year-old actor said of the iconic Marvel character.

Freddie Highmore, who plays the iconic Psycho character on A&E series Bates Motel, was asked by IGN about online campaigns that push for the 23-year-old actor to play Spider-Man in Sony and Marvel's reboot of the comic book character.

"Obviously, I would love to be considered," Highmore replied. "That would be fantastic. I guess we'll just see how things go."

Highmore said he likes the idea of playing Spidey because the hero is so relatable. "You always feel like you can identify with him," he explained. "He's that kind of guy at school who wasn't perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man — in this other side to his life."

Highmore, who has starred in films including Finding Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, added that he's not on Twitter, so he hasn't been "stoking any fires" himself on social media.

The character — who was played by Andrew Garfield in the two Amazing Spider-Man films and by Tobey Maguire in three films before that — is likely to appear in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.
