'Batman: Arkham Knight': Final Trailer Teases End of the Dark Knight

Things aren't looking too good for the Dark Knight.

The launch trailer for Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Knight has been released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and while it doesn't outright state that Batman is going to die at the end of the final game of the successful Arkham series — which launched with 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum, and continued with 2011's Batman: Arkham City — it certainly doesn't shy away from suggesting that it's a possibility.

"Legends live on," the voiceover in the trailer explains, as images of Batman's enemies and allies are glimpsed. "Only man comes to an end." In case that wasn't enough foreshadowing, the trailer ends with the words "This is how it happened. This is how the Batman died." The trailer also features "Mercy," the latest single from British rock band Muse.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be released June 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, pitting Batman and his fellow crime fighters against the Scarecrow and the army of supervillains he's assembled to take down the Dark Knight once and for all. And then there's the mysterious new villain Arkham Knight, created specifically for the game by DC Entertainment chief creative officer Geoff Johns and co-publisher Jim Lee...
