R.L. Stine Signs Deal to Produce 4 Graphic Novels for Boom! Studios

Comic shelves will get a little spookier soon with the news that Boom! Studios has signed horror great R.L. Stine to produce four new middle grade graphic novels for the publisher, starting late next year.
The four books will be original supernatural and horror stories, according to the publisher, with the first due to be released through Boom!’s middle grade imprint, KaBoom!, in fall 2019.

“\"I'm so lucky to have been able to scare so many generations of kids," Stine said Monday in a statement from the publisher. “Now I feel lucky to be going just beyond Goosebumps to a whole new medium of fright and chilling laughs. I'm hoping that Boom! is the sound of an explosion of fun in a whole new world for me."
Added Boom! vp editorial and creative strategy Bryce Carlson: "As a lifelong fan of R.L. Stine, I couldn’t be more excited to see him scare a whole new generation with a series of original horror graphic novels at Boom! Studios. His work changed my life as a reader and I can’t wait for today’s young readers to share that experience as R.L. Stine takes the graphic novel format and sends everyone just beyond the limits of their imaginations.”
Best known for the Goosebumps series, which launched in 1992 and was adapted for both television and movies, Stine has also created and written the Fear Street, Mostly Ghostly and Nightmare Room series, in addition to a number of other projects. Last year saw his first move into comic books, writing the five-part Marvel series Man-Thing.
