'Captain Marvel' Soars With New Trailer

The new Captain Marvel trailer has landed.

Marvel Studios' next movie stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a fighter pilot turned superhero who teams up with a younger Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) to face an alien threat. Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s, and is allowing a number of Marvel actors to return as characters (both living and dead), such as Guardians of the Galaxy's Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou as well as Clark Gregg as Agent  Phil Coulson.

Captain Marvel also stars Jude Law and Ben Mendelsohn, who recently called the project "a big moment for Marvel."

The new trailer features Jackson's Fury given more insight into the evil Krull species and Danvers' Kree heritage. It also teases Captain Marvel in full action, flying through space and battling enemy ships.

“I think we have something really special here, and that all comes from a finely crafted script, it’s absolutely beautiful," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published last month.

Fans got their first tease for Captain Marvel in April's Avengers: Infinity War, which featured a post-credits scene in which Nick Fury uses a pager to contact the hero, who presumably is off in some corner of the galaxy. Ahead of Captain Marvel's release, Marvel has retooled the hero's origin story in the comics, no longer tying her origins to that of a male Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, is set to hit theaters March 8. Larson will reprise her role weeks later in Avengers 4, which is slated to open May 3.
