Comic-Con: Batfleck Cowl Displayed by DC Entertainment

Fans visiting DC Entertainment's space on the main floor of San Diego Comic-Con will have the chance to see the next Batman costume in person years before it debuts on-screen.

Attendees to San Diego Comic-Con have the chance to see something more than they might have expected this year, with Ben Affleck’s Batman costume being displayed in the DC Entertainment area of the main floor — well, kind of.

Only the cape and cowl of the costume from 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is on display, as revealed by DC co-publisher Dan DiDio on Twitter minutes before the main floor opened for Preview Night Wednesday (“Batfleck costume is in the house!” he helpfully explained, in case it be mistaken for one of any number of Batman costumes through the years).

The cowl is part of a display of multiple Batman costumes in the DC space, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the character’s creation. Last year, DC mounted a similar mini-exhibition of Superman costumes, including Henry Cavill’s costume from that year’s Man of Steel. Also on show alongside the Affleck cowl are costumes worn by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney during their tenures as the Dark Knight Detective.

The costume may be one of the few appearances Batman v. Superman makes at this year’s show; the Zack Snyder-directed movie is not officially listed as part of Warner Bros.’ Saturday panel in Hall H, despite the expectations of many that the studio will be making announcements related to its DC Entertainment properties.
