Comic-Con: Image Comics Unveils Lineup For 'Image Expo' Event
San Diego Comic-Con is just two weeks away, but before that begins, Image Comics is holding its second Image Expo of the year to showcase its own new and upcoming projects far from the maddening crowds of the main event.
Next month's Expo will be the sixth such event since it was launched in 2012 to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary, and Image announced Thursday the panel and signing schedule for the all-day show, which includes appearances from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and comic book writer and novelist Greg Rucka.

The event will open with a 90-minute keynote morning address from Image publisher Eric Stephenson, which will follow the traditional format of introducing creators such as Rucka, Kirkman, Kyle Higgins, Tula Lotay, Brian K. Vaughan and writer of Marvel's Star Wars title, Jason Aaron to talk about their upcoming projects. Following a break for lunch, programming will feature five breakout panels running 30 minutes to an hour, allowing fans to talk ask questions of the creators.
The afternoon line-up in full, as per Image:
1:30 - 2:10 p.m.: Kyle Higgins & Alec Siegel, and special surprise guests
2:15 - 3:00 p.m.: A Conversation with Robert Kirkman
3:15 - 4:00 p.m.: Greg Rucka & Nicola Scott, and special surprise guests
4:15 - 5:00 p.m.: Jason Aaron and special surprise guests
5:15 - 5:50 p.m.: Tula Lotay, Steve Skroce, Brian K. Vaughan, and special surprise guests
Additionally, a retail counter will be open all afternoon, and creators including all of those mentioned above will be available for signings post-lunch. The day will close with an official After Party, held at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco.
Image Expo will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on July 2, six days before the opening of Comic-Con 2015. It's one of two single-publisher Bay Area pre-Comic-Con events taking place next week; on Monday, Valiant Entertainment will hold #ValiantSummit, a presentation to be broadcast live from Twitter HQ via Periscope.
