Since launching at the beginning of this year, Marvel Entertainment's Star Wars line of comics has proven to be hugely successful for the publisher, consistently outselling the rest of the company's line with the exception of its superhero crossover event Secret Wars. At San Diego Comic-Con Saturday, the publisher announced the obvious solution to restoring Star Wars' supremacy: its own crossover event.

Star Wars: Vader Down will begin a special Vader Down issue before running through issues of the regular Star Wars and Darth Vader series. The storyline will be written by Jason Aaron and Kieron Gillen, with art by Salvador Larroca and Mike Deodato.

Set in the time period between the original Star Wars movie and The Empire Strikes Back, Vader Down will build on events in the Star Wars and Darth Vader series and pit the Dark Lord of the Sith against the Rebel Fleet for the first time since the Death Star battle at the end of the original Star Wars, forcing him to crash-land on a nearby planet and incite a desperate race for his survival.

The six issue storyline will launch in November.
