This is when you can see the 'Robocalypse' author's first adaptation

The Nostalgist is ready to invade people's living rooms.

The sci-fi short will be available on VOD on Oct. 15 via We Are Colony, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The film is based on a short story from Robocalypse author Daniel H. Wilson, and has been making the festival circuit in recent months.

Check out the trailer below.

Wilson, who had previously written nonfiction, delved into fiction for the first time with the short story on which the film is based. He would go on to see Steven Spielberg board a feature adaptation of his first novel, Robopacalypse — though that film, which was to star Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathawayhas yet to materialize.

The Nostalgist is from London-based Italian director Giacomo Cimini and producers Pietro Greppi and Tommaso Colognese, with whom Cimini formed Wonder Room Productions. It stars Lambert Wilson and Samuel Joslin.

The Nostalgist premiered in June at Palm Springs Shortfest, and also screened at Italy's Giffoni Film Festival, winning honors at both. The film will next screen at Austin FantasticFest (Sept. 18-25) and at the BFI London Film Festival in October.
