Dave Franco, Jackie Chan to Lend Voices to 'Lego Ninjago Movie'
Dave Franco, Kumail Nanjiani and Michael Pena are among the actors who will lend their voices to the latest Lego animated pic, The Lego Ninjago Movie, Warner Bros. announced Thursday.
Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Zach Woods and Jackie Chan also are on the brick bill.
The plot, per the studio, revolves around the battle of Ninjago City and “calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and Lego Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, the worst guy ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad."
The studio description continues: “Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power."
Chan will voice Master Wu, while Franco will voice Lloyd. Theroux is playing Garmadon and Munn is taking on the role of Lloyd’s mother. The ninjas will be voiced by Armisen, Jacobson, Nanjiani, Pena and Woods.
The pic is being directed by Charlie Bean (Tron: Uprising) and produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Roy Lee. Maryann Garger also is producing.
Chris McKay, Seth Grahame-Smith, Jill Wilfert and Keith Malone are serving as executive producers.
The Lego Ninjago Movie has a Sept. 22, 2017, release date.
