David Dastmalchian to Host Fangoria Chainsaw Awards
After playing some frightening characters on the big screen, David Datsmalchian is ready to honor the best in the horror genre as host of the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards.
"As a life-long Fango fan and horror hound, it's a great honor to be hosting the Chainsaws, especially in light of the difficult year that we've all faced together," said Dastmalchian in a statement. "The isolation of 2020 was devastating and the amazing horror films of the past year helped many genre fans to endure the lockdowns as well as unifying the horror community in a wonderful way."

Nominees in various categories include Freaky, Gretel & Hansel, The Hunt, The Invisible Man, Underwater and many more.
Datsmalchian made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and went on to multiple collaborations with filmmaker Denis Villeneuve with Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming Dune. He is also known for playing humorous ex-convict Kurt in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man movies, and appears as the DC villain Polka-Dot-Man in James Gunn's upcoming The Suicide Squad.
In addition to acting, Dastmalchian is known as a writer. He penned the 2019 indie feature All Creatures Here Below, in which he starred opposite Karen Gillan. He also created the comic book series Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter, published by Dark Horse.
Dastmalchian is planning on continuing his relationship with Fangoria after the Chainsaw Awards, and is developing several projects with Fangoria Studios.
“Aside from being an excellent actor and an encyclopedia for all things horror, David is also a wonderful human. He has been nothing less than inspirational. We’re looking forward to producing alongside him,” said Armen Aghaeian, SVP Fangoria Studios.
Audiences can vote for the Chainsaw Awards here until Feb. 15. Details for the live-streamed ceremony will be announced at a later date.
