Desai, upped to executive vp, also will oversee direct-to-consumer and global franchise management.

DC Entertainment continues to hand out promotions amid its ranks.

Following the elevation of Geoff Johns to president of DC, the company has upped Amit Desai to exec vp, business and marketing strategy, direct-to-consumer and global franchise management.

Desai will continue to report to DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson, as do Johns and publishing heads Dan Didio and Jim Lee, and will be responsible for DC’s business operations.

His duties include overseeing business planning, finance, business affairs and administration as well as developing marketing strategies to drive awareness and interest in DC’s publishing content. Desai also will be responsible for expanding DC’s direct-to-consumer platforms to build and sustain direct relationships with fans, plus leading studio-wide franchise management efforts to optimize the long-term value of DC’s brands and franchises globally. In addition, he will oversee DC’s award-winning, high-end collectibles business.

"Amit’s well-deserved promotion reflects his incredible track record in driving key strategic business initiatives as well as successfully managing large consumer brands & franchises," Nelson said in a statement.

Previously, Desai held the title of senior vp, marketing & global franchise management.

Desai, who joined Warner Bros. in 2004 in the home entertainment group, oversaw the launch of DC’s new brand identity, established DC’s direct-to-consumer platforms, was involved in the launch of the new girls-targeted franchise DC Super Heroes Girls and directed marketing campaigns for publishing initiatives including DC Universe: Rebirth. He also was involved in the studio-wide celebrations of anniversaries for Superman and Batman and led DC’s anti-hunger campaign We Can Be Heroes.
