The French graphic novel will receive a new English-language edition in the fall.

Titan Comics is bringing history to life later this year with a new English-language edition of The Death of Stalin, the comic book inspiration for the new movie by Veep creator Armando Iannucci.

The announcement is being made Friday at the annual meeting of industry organization ComicsPRO.

The graphic novel by Fabien Nury and Thierry Robin, originally published in French by Les Éditions Dargaud, focuses on events occurring between March 2 and March 4, 1953 — the two days between Joseph Stalin suffering a stroke in the middle of the night and the announcement of his death, described by the publisher as "two days of fierce competition for the supreme power, two days that encapsulated all the insanity, the perversity and the inhumanity of totalitarianism."

Iannucci's adaptation of the book, which features Steve Buscemi, Michael Palin and Jeffrey Tambor, was recently picked up for U.S. distribution by IFC.

Titan's Death of Stalin will be released in the fall; the promotional version of the cover is shown above.
