Doug Liman Pandemic Heist Movie 'Lockdown' Lands at HBO Max
A pandemic-set movie is heading to streaming, with Doug Liman's Lockdown landing at HBO Max.
The worldwide rights for the heist movie, which shot in London during COVID-19 pandemic, were picked up by Warner Bros from Stuart Ford's AGC Studios. An early 2021 premiere is expected.

Set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 lockdown, the Steven Knight-penned feature tells the story of how sparring couple Linda (Anne Hathaway) and Paxton (Chiwetel Ejiofor) call a truce to attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewelry heist at the world’s most exclusive department store, Harrods.
Ben Stiller, Stephen Merchant, Lucy Boynton, Ben Kingsley, Mindy Kaling and Dule Hill also star.
P.J. van Sandwijk and Alison Winter produced for Storyteller Productions, along with Michael Lesslie. AGC’s Ford and Miguel Palos executive produced.
CAA Media Finance handled the deal on behalf of the filmmakers.
This is a big-ticket pick-up for HBO Max, which has previously acquired the Sony comedy American Pickle and Sundance feature Charm City Kings. In October, the feature film arm servicing the streaming service, WarnerMax, was phased out with Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich overseeing overall feature output for WarnerMedia, be it streaming or theatrical.
